Birmingham
….. is Britain’s 2nd city; its wealth and importance grew out of the Industrial Revolution of the 18th and 19th Centuries. But in the last 20 years Birmingham has undergone a “Renaissance” – shaking off its old industrial image and emerging as a chic and sophisticated city.

Culture
Birmingham has a world-class cultural scene with a diverse range of arts, music and leisure activities. It is home to the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, the Birmingham Royal Ballet and the Barber Institute of Fine Arts (recently voted “Gallery of the Year”). Concerts at the stunning Symphony Hall are a regular feature of Kingsway’s social programme. But you will find all kinds of live music here including rock, jazz and blues as well as theatre and stand-up comedy.

Shopping & Other Attractions
Birmingham offers first class shopping and includes big names like Selfridges of London. There is an excellent range of cafes, restaurants and bars and many of them are clustered around the newly-developed canal-side area. Perfect for people-watching! And don’t forget Cadbury World – a visitor-centre devoted entirely to chocolate!

A visit to Birmingham is a frequent part of Kingsway’s social programme but it’s very easy to visit independently. The train from Worcester to Birmingham is direct and takes 40 minutes.
