General English for Adults

General English for Adults at Kingsway means exactly that! We believe we are unique in England because we offer fantastic quality General English courses for mature adults with no teenagers in sight!

Even through the summer season English courses are for mature adults with a minimum age of 21 years, and there is no maximum age limit to join our General English courses. The typical age range of adults on our English courses is between 30 and 55 years old, so no matter what your age, you can be surrounded by mature adults looking for small English classes, with a maximum of 6 adult students per class.

General English for Professional Adults

Many of our students are professional people who need English for work and English for socialising. In most schools if you are a mature professional adult you will be put in a class with teenagers, or your alternative is to join a Business English class. In most cases neither of these is right for you. At Kingsway we find many of our adult students just want General English so they can perform their jobs better. They already know the terminology of English for work purposes. What is missing is the General English that cements work and social life.

An English School for Mature Adults like you!

One of the key features you as a mature adult will find at Kingsway English Centre is that everything is geared towards mature adult students who appreciate nice things in life. Our premises, which are right in the centre of Worcester, England on Foregate Street, are well kept and spacious. We have around 800 square metres and around 25 - 35 adult students on General English, Business English and One-to-One English courses. So you are never "packed in like sardines" - you have elegant space to be yourself.

General English Leisure Courses for Mature Adults at Kingsway English Centre

At Kingsway we offer a range of General English courses for adults.

The General English Group (GEG) course is for those adults looking for a full-time intensive General English course (26 hours per week of General English Group lessons).

The General English Combination (GEC) course is for those adults looking for General English for adults in small classes (maximum 6) in the mornings and One-to-One 1:1 English (or individual English) lessons in the afternoons.

PART TIME COURSES : The Language at Leisure (LAL) course is a General English course for adults who only want to study part time for a small number of hours per week (15 hours per week of General English lessons in small clases of maximum 6). The GREAT thing about the Language at Leisure General English programme is that you have the afternoons FREE to do what you want. We can help you decide on any trips or other activities that you would like to do.

Social Activities Programme for Adults

The social programme at Kingsway is run by our own Social Manager. Unlike many other schools, we do NOT send tired teachers out in the evenings to entertain you. The Kingsway Social Manager provides a social programme for adults. If you look at the pictures on this page they show the typical student profile at Kingsway - that is adult students (just like you) who want something special as part of their General English course in the UK. Do you recognise yourself in any of our pictures? Could you imagine having a great time studying General English on one of our adult English courses in the beautiful city of Worcester on the river Severn?

Most evening activities start at about 19h30 giving you time to eat with your host family first. But some start straight after lessons (17h00) and include eating in a restaurant or pub. You would normally be home at about 23h00. These include ten-pin bowling, pub evenings (sometimes with live music), classical music concerts at the fantastic Birmingham Symphony Hall and ice-skating. In the summer extra activities can be included like walking tours of the Cotswold villages or the Malvern Hills. All activities are for adult students, and we remember that when you are an adult student on an English course you may NOT want to be out until 3am, so all of our trips and activities end at a sensible time of night.

Weekend day-trips include London, Bath, Stonehenge, Wales, Manchester (including a tour of the Manchester United football ground), Birmingham, Warwick Castle, Stratford-upon-Avon, and Oxford. There are many wonderful places to see, and all of our full day-trips are specially planned to appeal to mature professional adult students, just like you.

If you are thinking of going to study in London we suggest you don't! You will meet more foreign people than native English speakers. You can still visit London because one of our trips is a full day in London. Although it is a longer day than normal (leave Worcester at 7am, return at 8pm) you will pass all the sights - including Buckingham Palace, Big Ben, the Tower of London, Westminster Abbey, Covent Garden etc. A truly great trip for mature adults, professional or not!!

Remember that Kingsway English Centre specialises in General English for adults, General English for professional people, One-to-one English lessons for adults, Business English for adults, Business English for professional people. There is no one younger than 21 years old and there are no teenagers, so you can relax and enjoy yourself on your English programme and get what you want from your time in the UK.
