Break Time @ Kingsway

Morning break is from 10h30 until 10h45 and afternoon break is from 15h00 until 15h15. Hot drinks (tea, coffee, hot chocolate) and cold drinks (fruit juice, fizzy drinks and mineral water) are free. Students just help themselves. During the afternoon break Kingsway also provides biscuits to give everyone energy to work on through the afternoon!

There are normally at least 2 members of staff mingling during breaks:

• Sue likes to use the opportunity to get to know everyone
• Anne likes to ensure that everyone is happy with their accommodation
• Bob likes to get everyone enthusiastic about joining the week’s social programme
• Joan likes an excuse for a chat!

“English only” is the rule at Kingsway even at break time. As there are normally at least 10 different nationalities at Kingsway, there is always a genuine reason for speaking English ie to make everyone feel included. But you don’t have to spend your breaks socialising! You could: Check your email, play the piano, read the paper or make a telephone call
But when you hear the infamous Kingsway bell, it’s time to go back to the classroom!

LUNCH TIME

You will need to buy your own lunch on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. Lunch time is from 12h15 until 13h30, plenty of time to walk to the shops and buy something to eat. Remember that your main meal will be in the evening with your host family, so at lunch time you will only need a light snack.

There are plenty of places to choose from for your lunch. You might just want to buy a sandwich, a baguette or a hot pie to eat back at Kingsway (which will cost you less than £2). Or you might like to eat at a nearby pub or restaurant with some of the other students (£4 - £10). It’s up to you.
